Large (6") Pyramid with Clock Springs and Halite Crystal

Many thousands of years ago, during our preagricultural days, humans discovered the many benefits of halite, a vitreous crystal commonly known as table salt. Those distant ancestors of ours discovered that salt could preserve a variety of foodstuffs, keeping them safe to eat for long periods of time. It was the first mineral mined by humankind, and is the only mineral routinely consumed by Homo sapiens.

And here we have a pyramid featuring a halite crystal atop a swirling assortment of clock springs, graphically demonstrating salt’s vital importance since time immemorial. Time continues to support halite, just as all living plants and animals on the planet depend upon salt to stay alive.
